I will be using 7-Zip, WinRAR and "Compresses Zipped folder"(Your right click,send to).

All the applications are at their default settings. I will covered the test on different format such as document(pdf), audio(mp3), movie(avi) and image(bmp).

There are 2 different tests that will perform for each:

1) All as zip format.

2) All compressed as WinRAR and 7-Zip format.

Conclusion:

From the results we can already conclude that WinRAR is the winner.

Note:

WinRAR is a shareware and it take a longer time to compress file than 7-Zip and generally uses much more cpu resource.
