What is the best Anti-Virus? A lot of people will ask and there will be 2 types of people:

Based on own experience and opinions:
(No offense to anyone, I'm just giving examples)

1) I think Kaspersky is the best because it is the most expensive Anti-Virus.
2) It is the most popular and most downloaded Anti-virus so you must use AVG.
3) Avast is better than AVG and Avira because it detects something when AVG and Avira fail to detects.
4) Avira is better because it managed to removed some virus as other anti-virus failed to remove it.

Based on features and Independence Tests:
(No offense to anyone, I'm just giving examples)

1) Avast is the best for free Anti-Virus as it provides the most features than any Anti-Virus.
2) Bitdefender is the best as it "top" for almost all the tests.

Which is more accurate in choosing the best anti-virus?
Well, in the past, I am the person based on opinions and experience. But along the way, I learn a lot of things through Independence tests and used a lot of Anti-Virus, I had to say in order to make something fair and accurate, we had to based on other factors too.

There are no such things as best Anti-Virus.
You had to choose which Anti-Virus is suitable for your system as different Anti-Virus had different impact on different computer.

So here are the list in choosing your "best" anti-virus:
1) What features do you need? Are you a casual surfer or do you do transaction online?
2) Free or paid version? Some free version is as good as paid version.
3) You had to try it all to know it. Does this Anti-virus slows/lag my computer a lot? Does it produces a lot of false alarm/positives? Does it take very long to scan my computer?

Golden rule:
As long you update your Anti-virus regularly, did not visit unknown or illegal sites. Any Anti-Virus should be able to protect you from any threats.

Choosing the "best" Anti-Virus in my way:
-Anti-Virus should had a decent detection rate.
-Anti-Virus should not had any/has the lowest false positives.
-Anti-Virus should should had a low impact on computer.

I used my opinions/experience and Independence tests to make a decision:

Av-Comparatives Tests:
ESET had the lowest impact on computer and it is also the only Anti-virus that achieve the "very fast" status in all tests.
ESET is also 1 of the top that had the highest detection rate and lowest false alarm(After Bitdefender).

AV-Test:
ESET scored 4/6 for Protection Test.
ESET scored 3.5/6 for Repair Test.
ESET has the lowest impact on Usability Test than any Anti-Virus.

Virus Bulletin(VB 100):
ESET had the best detection rate(including low false positive rate) and it top on 13 most popular Anti-Virus used in market with a 95.77% among all Anti-Virus for the last 13 years(Feb 1998 - Jun 2011).

In the last 48 consecutive independence tests, it had no false positive found. It had entered a total of 72 tests, 69 passed and only 3 failed.

In my opinions and experience(including independence tests results from the 3 companies), I conclude that:
- ESET (Paid version)
- Avast/Avira/AVG/Bitdefender(Free version)
