To be consider portable:
1) Does not require any installation on the computer you are using,can be stored on a removable device and can be use on any computer.
2) Settings and files created can be stored within the the removal device.
3) No personal information are stored in the used computer after the program had exit.
Advantages:
-No need to install
-If file is corrupted, just delete the folder and re-download a new copy.
Disadvantages:
-Might not check for the latest version.
-Portable software tend to launch slower than installed software
